How to play video once per session only

I am working on a site with flash video on the home page, using the hana flv player. It starts playing when someone enters the site, and then starts up each time the visitor returns to the home page. Is there a parameter I can include which restricts the player to automatically play only once per session?

We want it to automatically play when someone enters the site, but not play each subsequent time that same user clicks back on the homepage during the session.
